An End to all the Screeching

August 4, 2009

Just read a news bit online:

http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/92875/?fp=1

Turns out there was this reunion of the cast from Saved By The Bell.  There was something about a cover shot for People magazine, etc etc.  What I was ecstatic about was that the people that be totally DISSED Dustin Diamond!!!  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hate the guy.  Ever since I watched him on Celebrity Fitness and the seasons he came back, I realized just how horrible of a human being he is.  The other person I can think of that’s anywhere similar is Spencer of the Heidi/Spencer reality junkees.  Anyways, Dustin was not included on the cover and it seems the magazine also photo-shopped him out of a 1989 inset.  GREAT!!!!!  BRAVO!!!!!!

Dustin is lower than dirt.  He thinks he’s so incredibly smart and devious that his antics would fool everyone.  What, did he forget that the cameras were rolling?  All I can say is, if you’ve watched CF, you’ll know exactly what kind of a douche bag he is.

I hope this puts an end to the Screech, actually no, I like Screech, just not Dustin.  Dustin “Douche Bag” Diamond.

Psychoville

July 30, 2009

One more episode and it’s the end of the season.  I don’t know why I keep watching.  It’s just plain wrong!!

But it’s addicting.  The writing is brilliant and the storylines are quite interesting.  Who is the person who’s sending all those letters?  And this person is finally taking an active hand in things and has started killing.  We see dissension amongst the ranks, and now all the characters are making their way back to the sanitarium.

We’ve got psychic little people, demented housewives, murderous mothers, and even clowns!  Gosh, I HATE clowns.  I can’t stand it when the clowns appear in the show…ugh!!  But that’s what so brilliant about the show.  The writer knows that there are certain things people just do not like and they put it into the show.

I’m not doing this show any justice with what I’m writing.  You’ve got to watch it for yourself.  Me, I’ll be glad when it’s over, because I can finally preserve my sanity.  But I am looking forward to the next episode as well.  What does that say about me?

A Hung Jury

July 30, 2009

There’s this show out right now, Hung.  What do you make of the title?  It’s not what you think, or maybe it is.

Set in Detroit, it’s about a down-and-out single father.teacher who’s ketting the shit kicked out of him by life.  He’s divorced, got no money, house burnt down, really ugly kids, and just hitting rock bottom.  He’s got nothing, except, well…what God gave him.  Supposedly a rock-star of a underwear python.

So for the past 3 episodes I’ve seen, he’s trying to turn his life around.  And the way he’s decided to do so is to become a man whore.  Nto doing so well so far but things may be picking up.  He’s even got his two-night stand girl/friend to become his pimp.

BTW, Anne Heche is in this show.  Why???  Not sure, her character so far has been lackluster, and so is her acting.  But I digress.

The show is funny at times, but also quite depressing.  The situation is depressing, the city is depressing, and it’s just depressing to realize that this is our country’s current state as well.  But the show is watchable, not too bad.  I just can’t stand watching scenes of the kids, for some reason they just turn my stomach.  They’re not bad kids, just bad to look at.  You’ll know what I mean when you watch it.

Anyways, I’d say the show was about a 5.5-6/10.  The shows kinda slow but it’s got some fun moments.  I’d say watch it if you’ve got nothing else to watch.

Drop Dead Delicious

July 30, 2009

Just watched the first episode of Drop Dead Diva from Lifetime.   Delightful!!

As you may or may not know, I am a tv snob.  I don’t particularly like the programs we have here in the States.  They truly are quite bland and tedious in comparison with what’s outside of our borders.  So it was truly surprising when I actually liked something we have here.

Truth-be-told, I only agreed to watch because of Margaret Cho.  I am a big fan of hers and I’d give anything she’s on at least a gander.  So when I saw a commercial with her, I knew I had to at least check things out.

I had no idea what the premise of this show was about.  The title was a bit vague until after the first 5 minutes into the first episode, when I went “ohhh, I seee”.  Interesting, interesting…

The show is kindof like Legally Blonde meets Hairspray meets Ally McBeal.  The plot so far is a no brainer, pretty much things turn out rosy by the end of the hour.  What I did find interesting was the fact that the show held my interest for the entire hour, and I’m actually interested in watching to see what happens next.

Of course there are your stereotypical characters, like the lasviscious libidoed boss, the back-stabbing co-worker, and the trust sidekick.  All that’s missing is your cookie-cutter gay man (but the role seems to be filled by the ditzy blond model).

The show has its moments, no shortage of fat jokes and stereotypes.  But it’s not done in a mean way.  The cheez-whiz is a classic.  Overall I give it an 8.5/10.  There’s room for improvement and I hope it does.  Check it out!

Piece of Crap

July 30, 2009

Quick blog  Just saw Push.

Waited to see it on DVD. Should have waited even longer, in fact, should not have bothered. Was a piece of complete crap.  Actors and actresses who should have not signed on.  Now they’re hoping no one will remember they were in it.  Crappy editing, storyline too jumbled even for the director.  Pretty much knew it was a sinking ship and just let it sink.  DON’T WATCH!!

Brilliantly Cruel

July 12, 2009

I just watched part 5 of Torchwood.  I don’t know, my hands are shaking.

Wow.  What a thrill ride these 5 episodes were.  This was definitely THE BEST season of Torchwood.  In fact, I can’t recall watching anything on tv or in film that came anywhere close to the emotional rollercoaster of this season’s rollercoaster.

Just when I thought I had things figured out, just when I thought the good guys had the upper hand…BANG!  Something goes terribly wrong.  The writers are such BASTARDS!!!  And yet, they are so incredibly talented.  It feels like I was dragged naked across a cheese grater, my emotions and nerves have been rubbed so raw.

They had to use children.  They had to use children.  My god, this show used children and our feelings torwards them like nothing I’ve ever seen.  Our innate sense of wanting to protect them was kicked into overdrive.  I wanted so desperately to reach through and help.  All those children, so young, so manipulated.  So many monsters, both human and alien, pushed humankind around like they were commodity to be bartered and traded.  Such fucking bastards.

I hate Jack.  But I feel for him too.  He made such a hard choice, one I know I could never have done.  Even if it meant losing the world, I could never do what he did.  And in the end he ran.  Ran like a coward, but I understand why.  I’d run too, far far away.  I’d kill myself, but being Jack, he’d only come back and relieve the pain.

This season was so brilliant.  I was enthralled from part 1.  It was non stop, twists and turns, convoluted morality, loyalty versus duty.  We lost so many this season.  Ianto’s character really bloomed, but only to be cut down.

So what now?  Could this really be the end?  Would the creators just leave it like this, on such a sour and painful note?  Is this how Torchwood will be forever remembered?  How long must we wait before we find out?

Watch Torchwood, watch Torchwood.  I can’t believe how great of a season this was.

Encore! Encore!

Torchwood Update!!

July 10, 2009

I was wrong!!  And happily so!!

In my previous post, I wrote that Torchwood was being cancelled.  I’m happy to say that I was wrong!!  Based on what I’ve read, Torchwood is not being cancelled.  It’s just a new format BBC is using.  Instead of a season of 10+ episodes, they’re going for smaller numbers.  But the best part is is that Torchwood is staying!!

*But I say this with caution, who knows if it is true or not.  We’ll just have to wait and see.  If you hear anything, please let us know. *

The ratings have been incredibly high and that’s just strenghtened this show’s legs.  I hope it’s enough to bring us season 4!

I’m going to be watching the other episodes later tonight.  Yeah!!

New Season of Torchwood

July 10, 2009

BRILLIANT!!

Isn’t that what the British like to call things that are way cool and awesome?  It sure does apply to this season of Torchwood.

When last season ended, I was so bummed out.  Not only because the season had finished, but also because my favorite character, Tosh, had been killed off.  For a few days, I searched the web, hoping for any bit of info that indicated Tosh was coming back.  Sad to say, no.

Then other things came along, and I totally forgot about Torchwood.  I knew there was another season, just not sure when.  I also heard a nasty rumor that this would be the last season, and that the season would really be just a 5-part special.  Ugh!!  This was true.  The powers that be, the “brains” behind this has decided to finish off the series.  Bugger!!

Anyways, I was a bit behind on watching this season.  So much has been happening that I simply forgot.  Well, I just caught the first episode, and it was INCREDIBLE!!!!

This show can actually move quite well on only 3 of its origional 5 characters.  We’ve got Gwen, John, and Ianto.  And the plot is truly top notch.  I couldn’t believe that the hour just flew by.  You’ve got to watch it.  The action is non-stop, the writers were not pulling any punches.  Every character was speeding off in different directions, and one minute I thought I knew what was happening, and the next I was thrown a curveball.

At one point, as I was adjusting the volume, and suddenly a gun goes off.  I really jumped out of my chair!  Not only was the shot shocking, but also because it was truly unexpected.  Delicious!!

I am so happy that Torchwood is back, and I can’t wait to see the next 4 episodes.  But I’m also saddened to think that this is coming to an end.  But I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  If they can keep Dr. Who running for eons, I hope the same magic will work for this show.

BRILLIANT!!

Bullet Dodging

July 5, 2009

People of America, we really dodged a bullet this time.  What am I talking about?  I’m talking about that crazy woman up in Alaska who many of you thought was a prime vice-presidential candidate.  You were soooo wrong!!!!!

What is she up to now?  Why the sudden decision to give up the governership?  Higher Calling??

Some have said that it sounds like she’s thinking of going into ministry, others say it’s because she wants to step down before her upcoming embezzlement scandle.  Don’t know, it’s too early to know for sure.  What I do know is that America was really close to putting in a nut job in the White House.

Sure, many of you wanted a woman to be in power.  Since there was no Hilary, you wanted Palin.  Others felt that color was an issue, and others felt it was age.  But many of you weren’t overly concerned about ability, intelligence, fortitude, or even just plain common sense.  I mean, come on people, look what she’s been up to!

Since the election, she’s been vindictively lashing out at her daughter’s ex-(boyfriend/fiance/baby-daddy, etc etc).  She doesn’t take criticism well, even when the jokes are truly off color.  Have you heard her speak?  I always get a headache afterwards because she just runs in convoluted circles.  I don’t think she even knows what she’s talking about most of the time, she’s just inserting as many points as she can into her speeches.  I can sympathize with Katie Couric, Palin is no great orater.

Now if Palin had managed to get up into the White House, I think she would have been even worse than Quayle.  Sure we made fun of him not knowing how to spell potato, but at least we know he wasn’t going to press the button just out of spite.  But Palin, I’m not too sure.  She’s got this mean streak in her, a strong superiority complex, and a very bad poker face.  I shudder to think what sorts of diplomatic messes she would have created.

People of America, time to wake up.  Let’s look at our candidates more carefully.  We need to really comb through their pasts, grill them, test them before putting them into power.  How many governors have we had to oust/impeach/withdraw from office these past few months?  How much money are we needlessly wasting just to cover their legal fees?  Is the American public ever going to see the money returned back?  Nope.  As you and I struggle to keep what little money we have left in our pockets, we’ve got officials burning through public funds like wildfire, money which in reality is our money.  It’s just not fair, plain and simple.

So Palin is stepping down, good riddance.  People of Alaska can breathe more easily now.  But is she gone?  No.  She’s up to something, she’s not going to leave quietly.  All I can say is, it’ll be a crazy ride.  But let’s learn from our mistakes, or suffer.

MJ

June 28, 2009

It’s  been 4 days since Michael Jackson passed away.  Even now, I still can’t believe it.  I’ve been in a funk these past few days, I didn’t realize how much MJ means to me.  His passing away has really lain heavily in my heart.  This must be what depression feels like.  Even with the sun out, beautiful day, none of this matters.

I can honestly and truthfully say that I have never spoken ill of Michael.  Sure I was intrigued by his life, I listened and watched the gossip fly, and I awaited anxiously for his next antic or media stunt.  But I never believed the malicious shit that was flung.  I never believed that he was a child molester.  Instead, I truly believed that he was a tortured being, trying to find the childhood he never had.

I never thought he would leave so soon, so suddenly.  I thought there would be decades still, with many more incredible hits yet to come.  I was actually jealous of the fact that he was going to be touring in Europe, while I was here in the US.  I was rooting for Michael to make a glorious comeback.  And when I heard that promoters in Europe were actually preventing Michael from proceeding due to contract disputes, I was furious.

And now, none of that matters.  For the past few days, I’ve been watching the news, watching his videos, listening to his music, and just feeling empty inside.  I know that with time, I’ll be kept busy with my life’s duties.  I just hope that I never forget, that I will remember what it felt to lose him, because only then will I remember and understand just how much he meant to me.  I will really really miss him.
